App Annie’s Q3 2016 Index report shows China has smashed earnings records for Apple to become the leading iOS App Store market in the world, taking a massive $1.7b over the previous three months. The U.S. followed at $1.5b and Japan at $1.25b. According to estimates, there’s a lot more growth to come.
Until China’s sudden increase in revenue this quarter, the U.S. had been topping the chart since 2010.
It’s predicted China’s App Store revenue increase will continue into 2020, and the report said the growth will primarily come from games. Outside of games, App Annie states entertainment apps and social networking apps are the top categories, both with high levels of growth over the last year.
